Food bank by an organization aimed at helping immigrants and their families in trying times.
According to their website, they describe themselves as: “Our pantry is one of, if not the largest food pantry on the Lower East Side. We presently serve over 800 families from the neighborhood each month, distributing bags of food which include nutritionally diverse and culturally appropriate selections. We make it a priority to offer fresh produce to our clients and have received recognition for our program from the City of New York.”
In order to receive food, please bring a photo I.D. and proof of address (piece of mail, lease, etc.). Non-members are eligible to receive food once every other month. All non-members are on the waitlist and are registered as space becomes available. It is not necessary to make an appointment in advance. Our food pantry does not deny food to anyone based on race, color, immigration status, national origin, religion, sex, gender identity (including gender expression), sexual orientation, disability, age, marital status, or family/parental status.
